Blurb: Wallace Murray grew up in Keene, but made his fortune in Saranac Lake. He then returned to save farms, create jobs, and generate electricity. Earning him the title of “Father of the Town."

Date: Aug 5th Presenter: Olivia Dwyer Topic: Outdoor People & Nature Forever: How Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Work Together
The Adirondack Mountains are known for steep, 4,000-foot peaks. But the Adirondacks also have interesting terrain at other elevations and slopes. The Adirondack Land Trust’s conservation work presents opportunities to expand outdoor recreation for a broader audience. Date: August 12 Presenter: Doug Downs Topic: Kilamanjaro Title: Exploring Tanzania and Mount Kilimanjaro
Blurb: The trip was in August 2023 to Tanzania. We did a few days of safari and then climbed Meru, 15,000 feet (3 days) and then climbed Kilimanjaro, 19,300 feet, (7 days). I have lots of photos to share. Everyone in my group was at least 60 years old. We also visited an orphanage and bought/ donated several hundred pounds of beans, rice, gallons of detergents, etc. it was my first trip to Africa and a real eye opener. There is considerable poverty.
