Town of Keene Historical Society and My Adirondack Story

archives2.jpg

The Keene Valley Library and the Keene Historical Society are teaming up with other partners on Adirondack Community: Capturing, Retaining, and Communicating the Stories of Who We Are,  a multi-year local history project that collects and organizes audio stories and related photographs from Town of Keene community members through the online platform Memria.org to share the rich social and cultural history of this community located in New York State’s Adirondack Mountains.

Go to www.myadirondackstory.org to hear the stories and associated photographs and email myadirondackstory@gmail.com to make plans to tell yours or to suggest a storyteller.

Public libraries throughout the United States are moving towards new forms of engaging communities and bringing people together in welcoming physical spaces to tell stories. The Keene Valley Library is embracing its role as a community center and repository for the histories, stories, and memories of our town. Your stories are the history we share.

Libraries are places where people can find shared interests and talk to each other. In Keene, our libraries and the Keene Historical Society are deeply committed to this kind of programming and activity.
