STORIES AND HISTORY
Keene Valley Library and The Keene Historical Society are teaming up with Memria.org, an internet company, to collect stories from members of the Keene community and making the stories available to present and future generations.
Memria.Org is an internet platform that helps libraries, educators, and others collect stories from their communities. Once these audio accounts (and photographs) are collected, Memria helps libraries use them in different ways, such as through local exhibits or newsletters .
Public libraries throughout the United States are moving towards new forms of engaging communities and bringing people together in welcoming physical spaces to tell stories. Keene Valley Library is embracing its role as a community center and repository for the histories, stories, and memories of our town. Your stories are the history we share.
Libraries are place where people can find shared interests and talk to each other. In Keene, our libraries and the Historical Society are deeply committed to this kind of programming and activity. the Keene Valley library will host a workshop on storytelling for patrons using HistoryPin methodology on May 17 at 7 PM in the main room of the library .
